Doylene Rice's Memorial story

Doylene Rice

After I retired, I moved to Nacogdoches from Tyler in 2003 to be near my children and my granddaughters.

I volunteer to give back to the community, to meet new people and to help people coping with health challenges.

Every human being has an innate need to feel a sense of connection with others and to have a purpose in life. Volunteering at Memorial fulfills both needs for me.

The camaraderie of the volunteers and the support of the staff as we work together to take care of the patients and meet the hospital’s goals is so motivating. I have made wonderful friends and been touched by so many people. It has been truly rewarding.
