Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital launched a $40 million construction project in early 2013, which will include a new surgery center along with a new labor and delivery unit. The new surgery area, which will be on the first floor of the hospital, will include convenient access and registration for surgery patients, open waiting areas and spacious operating suites with higher ceilings and the latest in materials and technology. The addition will be adjacent to the current emergency room, which will also benefit from redesigned admissions areas to ease patient flow into the emergency services.

Believing that minimally invasive surgery is the future of medicine and the key to a speedy recovery for our patients, Memorial Hospital offers what may be the most effective, least invasive surgical treatment option available today – the daVinci robotic-assisted surgical system – for major surgeries such as prostatectomy. We’re also the first hospital in East Texas to offer balloon sinuplasty, cutting edge minimally invasive sinus surgery.

Memorial Hospital offers a wide range of high-quality surgical services, with specially trained staff, facilities and services for the assessment and care of patients requiring surgery. Due to the special needs of patients having surgery, the following guidelines apply:

  • Visitors are not allowed in the operating rooms; they may stay in a special waiting area nearby.
  • During the day shift, a volunteer patient liaison is available in the waiting area to keep relatives and friends informed of the patient’s progress during surgery.
  • If a volunteer patient liaison is not available, the nursing staff will give progress reports to you as time allows.
  • The surgeon will find your family and friends in the waiting area following surgery. A private consultation room is available for your needs. Just ask the volunteer liaison.
