Women & Children
At Memorial Hospital, we believe the choice is yours to make, but the need is ours to meet. With the staff addition of Dr. Sheila Hill and Dr. Kim Schaus, both board-certified Ob/Gyns who happen to be women, we "sweetened" the pot, so to speak, with the variety of choices now available to Nacogdoches women.
These professionals offer surgical and gynecological services covering a wide range of special needs, including family planning counseling, hysterectomy, incontinence treatment, tubal-ligation, fertility intervention and VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) deliveries. Backed by an incomparable slate of healthcare professionals at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, they provide a full range of affordable, quality healthcare services for women.
The birthing center at Memorial was designed to be one of the most family-centered, comfortable and attractive labor and delivery programs available in the East Texas area. For our patients' comfort, round-the-clock epidural service is available through Memorial's anesthesia department. With regular offerings of prepared childbirth and sibling classes, we'll help assure that the birthing process is the most joyous occasion possible. For information on class schedules, call 568-8474.
Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital continues to partner with University of Texas Medical Branch in the Regional Maternal/Child Care Center, providing a unique prenatal care program, using certified nurse midwives, that has been recognized as one of the most successful in the state.
Babies and children receive top-notch care from a wide range of specialists, including family practitioners and pediatricians, backed by an incomparable staff of nurses at Nacogdoches Memorial. All nurses who serve in the women and children's department are specifically trained and certified in Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
