In April 2012, Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital attained Chest Pain Center designation from the prestigious national society of Chest Pain Centers.  A lot of hard work went into attaining this certification, improving processes to make sure that if a patient showed up with heart attack symptoms in the ER or by ambulance, we'd  have him or her in the cardiac catheterization lab within the national standard “from door to balloon” in 90-minutes or less.  "I'm proud to say we beat the national average," explains Tim Hayward, Memorial CEO. "Our "door-to-balloon" angioplasty  response time is at 62 minutes, way under the standard, but now, we'll shoot to move it even further, to 50 minutes. Carving off more time is important, because time is heart muscle.”

The cardiac catheterization lab care team has many years of experience serving Nacogdoches Memorial patients and in 2009 we opened a second cath lab and added a second shift of staff, allowing us to offer four times the heart care. That's good for our patients!
