Cardiac Services

The goal of our Cardiac Services program is to prolong life and significantly increase the quality of that life. With this in mind, Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital offers a comprehensive package of services from major open-heart surgery to cardiac catheterization to cardiac rehabilitation.

We're one of East Texas' "grandfathers" in the open heart surgery field and the first heart program in Nacogdoches, with more than 15 years of accomplishments under our belt. We have many other Nacogdoches "firsts" in the cardiac treatment field. Nacogdoches Memorial was the first to provide cardiac catheterization, open-heart surgery, balloon angioplasty, stents, drug-eluting stents, installation of an internal cardiac defibrillator and the installation of a permanent biventricular pacemaker.

More than 15 years after our first open heart surgeries, Memorial Hospital has become a regional heart center, providing life-saving cardiac services to patients from all over East Texas, some even life-flighted to us for care. Our Level III Trauma Center means that an unparalleled team of specially trained professionals in surgery and critical care are also at the ready, should you need more acute care.

Operating as a well oiled machine, the staff of the catheterization lab has many years of experience working together and individually possess extensive critical care, trauma and ICU experience, as well. Only RNs and LVNs and certified radiology techs are utilized, ensuring top quality healthcare for our patients.

Patients who have experienced a heart attack or heart surgery can reap the benefits of Cardiac Rehabilitation to get back on the road to a healthier lifestyle. Our cardiac specialists and physical therapy professionals will tailor a well-supervised, structured, exercise program to meet the needs of each patient.
