Entire women’s and children’s department praised for Job Well Done
Cindy Holloway, director of women’s and children’s services, was asked by the Nacogdoches County Hospital District Board of Directors to nominate an employee from her department for A Job Well Done for September – a request she could not bring herself to fulfill. “My immediate thought was how can I possibly pick just one person? These past several months have been filled with a myriad of heroic efforts, selfless giving, answered prayers of every kind for every situation,” she explained.
With that in mind, she nominated her entire department and included the physicians, midwives and nurse practitioners for good measure. “This has been a great year for the Memorial women’s and children’s department,” she said. “What a great honor to receive recognition for being one of the Best Maternity Care Hospitals of 2020 by Newsweek Magazine for extraordinary service to mothers, newborns and families in our community and also for receiving the 2020 5-Star award from Healthgrades. These awards are not due to the contribution of a single person, but to the talent and dedication of an entire team.”
Acknowledging that 2020 has been fraught with fear of the unknown, concern for the wellbeing of loved ones, and an emotional and physical fatigue from our daily struggles, Cindy recognized the rock-solid attitude of her crew. “In these ever-changing times, this department has been unwavering in its mission of administering the best patient care possible. With unyielding compassion and care this team has ministered to those who are fearful of delivering a new life into a world of uncertainty yet filled with the excitement of what is to come. We are gifted with a truly amazing team of devoted professionals.”
