Chaplain surprised with thanks
Staffers engineered a surprise opportunity to pour out their thanks to Chaplain Richard Harris last week, putting together an impromptu reception to acknowledge his tireless efforts.
Chaplain Harris has one of the hardest jobs at Nacogdoches Memorial, attending patients and families when bad news is delivered, helping in organ donation conversations, facilitating the filing of advanced directives and mentoring the spiritual well-being of staff members. Chaplain Harris has given of his free time to conduct weekly Bible studies for stressed employees and even recently began doing a daily prayer for safety huddle.
He is always on call to help those in need. One employee said “The chaplain has never not answered when I’ve called him, no matter what the hour. He’s always there for us.”
