Memorial hosts political forums for staff, public

A critical election is quickly approaching Nacogdoches County Hospital District Board of Directors, with four seats up for election on Nov. 6, 2018. Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 22.

This week Memorial hosted two political forums, featuring questions submitted mostly by hospital employees to challengers and incumbents alike. Both forums were well attended and were live streamed on the hospital Facebook page. Voting for the hospital board starts Monday

“Those videos have been viewed a combined total of 2,500 times, so that’s a clear indication that our community is following these races for hospital board very closely,” said Kim Barton, community relations director. “It’s vitally important for our staff and our community to vote, because the candidates who win this election will play a big role in determining our future.”

When the results are tallied on Nov. 6, there will be a new representative for Precinct 2, either Dr. Ryan Head or Brent Beal, PhD. Precinct 3 will be represented by incumbent Walter Lee Scott or challenger Sean Hightower. Two At-Large seats will go to the top two vote collectors amongst incumbent Lisa King and challengers Joe Allport, Mary Ann Derby, James Stockman, Leann West and Anita Kite, who currently holds the Precinct 4 spot.

There are many new convenience options for early voting this year, including extended hours, a Saturday opportunity and Early Bird Branch Voting on Monday, Oct. 22 only, at Central Heights ISD, Garrison City Office, Grace Bible Church, Woden ISD and Martinsville ISD from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
