A patient traveling through town on a bus had a medical emergency and had to be admitted to the hospital for a brief time. Because he was from out of state, he had nowhere to go when he was discharged and no family to take him home until the next day. Linda Sterling, unit coordinator for pediatrics, came to the aid of this stranded visitor. She called local hotels to find him a place to stay that would take cash, because that’s all he had. The patient also didn’t have any of his medications, because his bag had been left on the bus and travelled on to Houston. Mrs. Linda called the pharmacy and set everything up for him to get his medication and obtained a voucher for a cab to take him to his hotel from the hospital. She coordinated all of this on her own without being asked. What a Wow moment!
