Having a baby is such an exciting part of life and we’re proud to be part of your joy. At Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, we believe in empowering women by providing information, supporting choices and offering a full scope of services in a comfortable, nurturing environment. Our team collaborates to offer a specialized plan of care unique to individual needs, from pregnancy through childbirth and after delivery.

The Women's and Children's Center at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital was designed to be one of the most family-centered, comfortable and attractive labor and delivery programs available in the East Texas area. For our patients' comfort, Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital’s anesthesia department provides round-the-clock epidural service.

Labor & DeliveryBirthing Tubs
Our brand new labor & delivery unit is designed to be a comforting environment for families to welcome their new baby. Each room is private with the latest in technology, safety and comfort for mom and family. Once labor begins, mothers stay in the same room for the birth of their baby and through the first hours of recovery.

  • 8 Labor & Delivery Suites
  • Luxurious, spacious, private bath
  • Walk-in Jacuzzi-style tubs
  • Bright cheerful colors
  • Flat-screen televisions

C-Section Suites
Should you need it, two state-of-the-art C-Section suites are available for moms needing surgical assistance in delivering their baby.

Memorial is proud to boast about our 14% primary c-section rate, compared to the national rate of 32%.

High Risk Pregnancies
Premature, low birth-weight, and critically ill newborns receive the highest level of care in our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specially trained neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners work in our state-of-the-art facility, providing advanced care to babies with a gestational age of at least 32 weeks.

Once your new baby arrives, our nursery staff will conduct a series of screening tests to evaluate the newborn’s overall health.  Babies are bathed and monitored, then stay in our cheerful new nursery until we know for sure they are maintaining their own body temperature.  Shortly after, the newborn is returned to their mom.  Moms can opt for baby to “room-in” or take advantage of the support of the nursery staff.

Our nursery features close proximity to postpartum rooms, so the whole family is close together and cozy. We’ve doubled the space available in our new nursery, with room for 14 bassinets in the main nursery and a five-bed continuing care nursery for babies awaiting transfer to a higher level of care in a neonatal intensive care unit.

Our moms and babies can expect state-of-the-art monitoring while in the Women’s and Children’s Center.

Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital’s 11-bed postpartum unit provides specialized care for moms and babies after delivery. Nurses are able to help new parents with child-care basics, such as feeding, bathing and dressing their newborn. The postpartum unit features spacious private baths, flat-screen televisions and bright, cheerful colors. We even have special slanted sinks in the rooms, designed for parents to practice their bathing skills while still under the watchful and helpful eyes of our nursing staff, since one of the scariest tasks reported by our moms is that first bath. We want you to go home with your newborn, confident in your childcare skills!

Physicians and nurses will also educate moms on personal care specific to their method of delivery.

Antepartum Unit
The four-bed antepartum unit provides specialized care for moms experiencing complications of pregnancy, such as premature labor, gestational diabetes and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Each suite in the antepartum unit is also fully equipped to serve as a delivery room, should the need for more delivery space arise. Like the labor and delivery center, the antepartum unit features spacious private baths with walk-in tubs, flat-screen televisions and bright, cheerful colors.
